Job Summary:
Pure Storage is seeking component engineers to work in our Global Commodity Engineering team, partnering with Operation Engineering, HW Design Engineering, Commodity Management, Supply Chain Operations, Contract Manufacturing partners and Suppliers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing the qualification process for components, as well as leading failure analysis activities. The role requires a strong understanding of quality assurance principles, IC component design, manufacturing, qualification process and reliability tests to ensure the components meet the quality, reliability, and performance of our products requirements.
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to
Partner with operation engineers, design engineers, commodity managers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to establish qualification criteria and standards for Pure Storage products.
Define, implement, and execute component qualification criteria and procedures.
Lead failure analysis investigation to identify root cause of component failure and provide recommendations for mitigation and corrective actions.
Participate in yield improvement activities to deliver products with superior quality to customers .
Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements and monitor compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
Develop commodity strategy, supplier quality metrics and management systems.
Responsible for supplier selection, qualification, and audits.
Identify alternate sourcing to mitigate BOM risk and navigate around shortage, LTB and EOL situation.
Apply technical expertise to risk assess component reliability in the event of quality excursion.
Analyze and implement Product Change Notification (PCN), manage approved vendor list in PLM system, ensuring product compatibility and compliance requirements.
Qualifications for this role are:
8+ years of component experience in IC design, mfg., test, quality, and reliability.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering, or other engineering discipline is required.
Proven experience in quality engineering, component qualification, and failure analysis in a fast pace high tech industry.
Proficiency in executing diverse testing and analysis techniques, encompassing electrical testing, semiconductor characterization, and statistical analysis.
System integration experiences in the network storage industry preferred. Experiences working with OEM / ODM models is a plus.
Component knowledge with DRAM, DIMM, NAND and IC components required. Basic understanding of HBA, Optics and PSU function is a plus.
Experiences with PLM systems (Agile, Oracle, SAP etc.) and Supply Chain Risk Management tools (Z2Data, SiliconExpert, etc.) required.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and reliability in all aspects of work.
Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams and present technical information clearly and concisely.
